Jointly hosted by China Mobile, China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), Global TD-LTE Initiative (GTI) and Telecommunication and Development Industry Alliance (TDIA), supported by China Electronic Newspaper, 5G Technology and Testing Workshop was successfully held on April 15th, 2016 in Beijing, China. At this workshop, more than 400 attendees from government, operators and end-to-end industry vendors fully discussed the opportunities and challenges of 5G technology development and testing.
Leaders from Chinese relevant government departments attended this workshop and gave speeches. "Testing work is the necessary supporting for the research and validation of 5G key technologies." said Mr. Wen Ku, Director of Telecommunication Development Department, MIIT, "I hope technology test can push the standardization and technology maturity, and promote the development of application innovations."
At this meeting, China Mobile, NTT DOCOMO and SKT shared their development strategies, time plan and latest trial progress on 5G. Also they gave their key considerations and advices on 5G trails from an operator perspective.
Specialists from industry vendors also shared their latest R&D progress and plans of 5G key technologies, and discussed the requirements and key challenges in 5G testing. The infra companies Huawei, ZTE, Datang, Ericsson and Nokia, the terminal/chips companies Qualcomm, Intel, Spreadtrum and Coolpad, and the test instruments companies R&S, Starpoint, Anritsu, Keysight and Spirent attended the meeting and gave speeches to drive the 5G standardization and technology maturity from the whole industrial chain.
