Brazilian operators Vivo and Claro announced the expansion of 4G coverage on the 700MHz band in the city of Sao Paulo, after regulator Anatel cleared the band for mobile use in the region. Vivo said it will cover another 12 municipalities of the state, among them the whole ABC Paulista (Sao Caetano do Sul, Sao Bernardo do Campo, Santo Andre, Diadema, Maua, Ribeirao Pires and Rio Grande da Serra), and south coast with the cities of Santos, Sao Vicente, Guaruja, Praia Grande and Cubatao.
With the expansion of coverage to these municipalities, Vivo reaches 932 cities throughout the country, including all state capitals, with the exception of Florianopolis, in Santa Catarina, which will be the next capital to be covered using this frequency. Vivo also continues to expand coverage in the state with 4.5G technology, present in 265 cities in Sao Paulo, and 736 in the country.
Claro Brasil also confirmed the activation of the 700 MHz frequency for mobile service in Sao Paulo, reports CCM. Among the benefits of this range are the expansion of network transmission capacity, the expansion of coverage and improved signal strength indoors. Recently, Claro activated this service in Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte and Porto Alegre. According to the operator, the activation of mobile service in this band in Sao Paulo is scheduled to be completed in the next few days.
