Slovakia plans to carry out an auction for 5G bands this year. According to sources of Zive.aktuality.sk, this will include not only the 700 MHz band, but also frequencies in the 1,500 MHz band could be distributed in the 5G auction.
Representatives of all four mobile operators working in the country told Zive that they are considering the 1,500 MHz band for 5G services in the future.
Roman Vavro, a spokesman for the national telecommunications regulator, declined to say which frequencies will be offered in the tender. The regulator plans to carry out public consultations on the issue this quarter, and then will decide on the make-up of the auction.
According to Zive.aktuality.sk, the probability that the 1,500 MHz band will be available in the tender is high. This is expected to be the 1,427-1,518 MHz range.
