GTI Awards 2021 intends to recognize outstanding contributions in 4G & Evolution, 5G eMBB, 5G ENS and Innovative Business & Services, and to encourage innovative products, solutions and applications that address challenges faced by GTI operators, and honorable contribution to the industry and the GTI.

 

After comprehensive evaluation on contribution to 4G evolution and 5G development, a total of 2 operators, 7 industrial partners and 4 individuals across terminal, chipsets, network infrastructures, test systems and verticals have stood out and won the GTI Awards.

Cat 1: Innovative Breakthrough in Mobile Technology Award

Ericsson

 Street Macro B41

Cat 3: Market Development Award

Huawei

 The 5G Private network for Hualing Xianggang Project

• The first commercial 5G toB project in China that has created real value for Valin Xiangtan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. (Hualing Xianggang) and achieved a positive business cycle.

• It’s jointly constructed by Huawei and carriers, and provides a better interconnection foundation for smart steel mills and resolves the pain points of information silos, seamless data flow, and low efficiency of wired network units in steel enterprises.

• 5G networks build a solid connection foundation and integrate with cloud, AI, and computing technologies to generate abundant innovative steel applications, bringing a richer ecosystem to the industry.

Rakuten Mobile

 Build the world’s first end-to-end fully virtualized 4G and 5G commercial network

• It has built the world’s first end-to-end fully virtualized, cloud native mobile network for 4G and 5G, which is a real-world implementation of OpenRAN, utilizing a multi-vendor approach incorporating virtualization technologies.

• Subscribers can enjoy unlimited data usage when on the network and unlimited calls with a dedicated app. 5G service is also offered for no additional fee.

• This achieved the reduction of 40% for CAPEX and 30% for OPEX compared to the traditional approach.

• This network allows Rakuten Mobile to shift away from a conventional model.

Cao Yiqing
(Qualcomm Technologies)

• As the Senior Staff Engineer of Qualcomm, he has provided consistent and remarkable contributions to GTI 5G projects for several years.

• He is the major contributor of several important efforts which includes Sub-6GHz 5G Device White Paper, Multiple Operator Network Coexistence in the same Frequency Bands, 5G Sky Office White Paper, and Proof of Concept of 5G System White Paper. 

Mustafa KARAKOC
(Turkcell)

• As one of the coordinators for GTI Program 2: 5G eMBB, he leads related technical work to promote further development of the program.

• With deep knowledge and experience in 5G spectrum strategy planning and 5G network development, he has been actively supporting GTI workshops.

• Actively takes part in leading industry activities and with key insight in industry latest 5G progress. 

Nie Zhaohui
(Huawei)

• As the GTI interface of Huawei LTE product line and project coordinator to promote GTI success stories to global carriers, especially in emerging market.

• He leads the Task-S-PM1-PJ4-5 Spectrum and Coexistence, and organized the GTI 2.3G Spectrum Roundtable.

• A key contributor to GTI 2300MHz Industry White Paper and works hard to promote joint release of Mobile Broadband Foundation White Paper.

Peng Yangyang
(Smarter Micro)

• As the GTI interface of Smarter Micro, he has contributed a lot to GTI technical work by participating in 8 tasks in 4G& Evolution and 5G eMBB program.

• A key contributor to GTI 5G Device Power Consumption Whitepaper for several versions.

• An active supporter to GTI workshops and ad-hocs.
