Indonesian operator Telkomsel has launched its LTE services, reports Telecompaper.com on Dec 9, 2014. The operator has been testing 4G for some time, including a trial service at the APEC summit in Bali last year. The service was deployed in the 900 MHz band, offering speeds of around 36 Mbps. In the initial stage, more than 200 4G base stations cover Jakarta and Bali, and customers can check coverage on an interactive map on Telkomsel\'s website. The operator said it prepares to gradually expand coverage to reach all 22 provinces by 2019.

The company offers a range of 4G devices from Samsung, LG, Microsoft and HTC, with a number of cashback offers underway. Customers also need a USIM card, and Telkomsel provides prepaid and postpaid customers with a free swap for the new Sim. Existing customers subscribed to data services will receive 4G access at no extra cost. 4G customers will also get access to content from Disney over the Moovigo app. Additionally, as part of the Bridge Alliance, Telekomsel will offer 4G roaming, initially in Australia, Singapore and Malaysia.
