Airvana announced the S1000, a 2.5-GHz TD-LTE small cell with integrated Wi-Fi for small and mid-size business locations, reports Telecompaper.com on May 19, 2015. The S1000 is scaled and featured for small business, complementing Airvana's existing OneCell LTE system for larger locations. The S1000 comes with circuit-switched fallback and VoLTE capabilities to enable voice support for both legacy voice and new VoLTE devices. Apart from TD-LTE, the S1000 offers 802.11ac Wi-Fi with support for private access for small business employees and public access for visitors.
Airvana's hybrid self-organizing-network (H-SON) capabilities ensure smooth coexistence with operators' macro networks, as well as neighboring small cells. The company's Device Management System centralized SON functions work in tandem with the local SON algorithms of the S1000 to automatically configure hundreds of parameters based on location and operator-specified policies. This eliminates the need for on-site technical staff. The S1000 is available now globally for operator trials and evaluation.
