Czech infrastructure provider Cetin plans to invest in the deployment of a 5G network and the modernisation of the radio access network. Cetin and Ericsson signed a cooperation agreement on the construction of a new 5G mobile network and modernisation of the RAN. The upgrade is expected to improve user experience when accessing mobile services, reduce energy consumption and contribute to the efficient construction of a 5G nationwide network.
The operator plans to use 5G for the entire spectrum of radio frequencies on its network. This will bring faster data transmission with minimal latency and very high transmission capacity, said Martin Skop, CEO of Cetin. The project is currently at the preparation and testing stage.
The value of the contract is in the order of billions of Czech crowns. In addition to the FTTH construction programme, the new project is the company’s largest tech investment since launch.
