Targeting for 5G\'s commercial launch in 2020, China Mobile plans to enlarge the 5G trial gradually by 3 phases: Key Technology Components, Proof-of-Concept (PoC) systems and Pre-commercial Network. Phase 1 trial on key technology components was finished by the end of 2016. Based on Phase 1\'s findings and the latest progress of 3GPP standardization, China Mobile has consolidated a technical framework of Phase 2 trial on 3.5GHz 5G system with its global partners for enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB) scenarios.

To guide the Phase 2 trial on PoC systems in 2017, China Mobile releases the “guideline for 3.5GHz 5G system prototype and trial” on MWC 2017. The phase 2 trial aims for solving the bottleneck of hardware and platform for 5G end to end system and accelerate the 5G industrial maturity.The partners invovled in the trial are required to follow this guideline when they develope their prototypes for 5G trials in 2017.

China Mobile\'s 5G commercial network will follow 3GPP 5G NR Release 15 (R15) and later releases. R15 is to be finished by June 2018.China Mobile will release the pre-commercial product specs and commercial products specs according to the findings from the trials and test to guide the further industrialization towards commercial deployment.
