Tigo Bolivia launches LTE for smartphones
Bolivian mobile telephony operator Tigo has launched 4G LTE services for smartphones, Telecompaper.com reported on Sept 4, 2014. The telco was already offering LTE plans for MiFi modems. Users will need to have a LTE capable smartphone and obtain a new chip that will be provided free of charge. In July 2013, Tigo had acquired spectrum in the 700 MHz band for the provision of LTE services. The telco also has spectrum in AWS (1.7-2.1GHz). Tigo Bolivia is fully owned by Millicom.
